OVERVIEW

To implement the 90m wide Outer Ring Road project of Surat, Government of Gujarat has given approval for formation of “Urban Ring Development Corporation Limited” to be registered under the Companies Act, 2013 vide Urban Development and Urban Housing Department Communication No. UDA-102014-2766-V dt. 28.01.2015. Company is Formed as a Special Purpose Vehicle by SUDA and SMC. Accordingly, Urban Ring Development Corporation Limited was registered on 2.07.2015 by Registrar of Companies, Gujarat.

NESSACITY

Surat city’s growth has been phenomenal over last couple of decades. Surat city is 4th fastest growing city in the world (City Mayors Foundation Study) and 8th largest in India in terms of population. With decadal population growth of over 55% during 2001-2011, present population of city has reached more than 5 million.The increasing population in Surat has generated a lot of industrial, commercial, recreational, educational and other activities. The demand for residential areas has also increased to cater to the fast growing population.

Considering the traffic and transportation need of the rapidly growing Surat City and its hinterland the need for the comprehensive and integrated approach  towards traffic and transportation planning was is strongly felt. Keeping in view the future expansion of the fast growing city of Gujarat,90 mts wide 66-KM long Outer Ring Road has been planned on the periphery of the city.

SOLUTION

To implement this prestigious project of implementation of 90m wide Outer Ring Road and its surrounding area by mechanism of Town Planning Scheme, SUDA in association with SMC has formed a company (SPV) name URBAN RING DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION LIMITED,  under the Companies Act, 2013. The company shall be involved with planning, design, construction of 90m wide ring road of international standard with physical infrastructure.

RESULT

  • Easy accessibility to National Highway and State Highway Network
  • Improving the present road network and efficiency of the city traffic by building bridges and new roads on reclaimed land in green field area
  • Making important contribution to bringing about perceptible improvement and augmenting the essential infrastructure of the city& its outskirts
  • The project has the potential of creating plethora of employment opportunities, improving public utilities service and civic amenities
  • Reduce congestion and to accelerate urban growth in and around Surat City.
  • Provide high speed connectivity to town planning schemes under the area of SUDA and SMC
  • Provide separate space for impending BRTS, METRO and other transit systems to be constructed in the future growth plan
  • Reduce traffic congestion in the city of Surat by offering alternate residential, commercial and other transport routes connecting the periphery of the city.
